The Northall

Every January, my husband, sister, brother-in-law and I make a point of going out for dinner and drinks. It's essentially in lieu of buying one another expensive Christmas gifts (though we do buy little things to unwrap for fun), and it also gives us something to look forward to in dull and dreary January. I love what has become an annual tradition, and this year I thought I'd share it with you.

The Northall is the beautiful restaurant in the Corinthia Hotel, London. Conveniently located near Embankment, its setting is one of airy, unassuming opulence, with touches of luxury in all the right places. The menu is seasonal, sustainable and unequivocally British, not to mention delicious. We had a wonderful evening, served by attentive yet discreet staff, who were only too happy to escort us to the Bassoon bar once we'd reached the bottom of our third bottle of Laurent-Perrier and thankfully thought better of ordering a fourth...

Roast Fillet of Hake, Billy By Mussels, Potatoes and Leeks with Saffron

Slow Cook Rump Steak with Lyonnais Potatoes, Ale and Mustard Sauce

Warm Stem Ginger Yorkshire Parkin, Roasted Pears and Vanilla Custard

Manjari Chocolate and Pistachio Mousse, Pistachio éclat, Mandarin Jelly

Bassoon

Bubblegum

The scent of Lilies and Narcissi filled the lobby - divine!

I didn't take a photo, but I had the Parsnip and Sussex Honey Soup with Caramelised Apple to start, which was exquisite. I love soup, and have very high standards when it comes to ordering it out, so that's really saying something coming from me! I really would highly recommend The Northall for its food, setting and excellent value for money.
